We carefully managed a downsizing from a rural Aberdeenshire home to Glasgow, handling decluttering, packing, transport, and setup.
The Challenge
We were approached by the daughter of a gentleman based in the Caribbean who had recently purchased a beautiful property in Perthshire. A proud Scot, he wanted a family home where everyone could gather when visiting from the UK and abroad.
The house had undergone extensive renovations, managed remotely, but the project had taken far longer than expected and the property was not yet ready for the family’s three-month stay. With no direct contact with the client, we worked entirely with his daughter to bring the house to life. The challenge was to anticipate the father and stepmother’s vision and create a space that felt instantly like home while working within tight timescales.
Our Role
Our role was to ensure the property was fully prepared, styled and ready for the family’s arrival. This meant unpacking and organising every room, curating artwork and styling interiors with care while coordinating a team of contractors and trades to complete outstanding work.
Our Approach:From Renovation Site to Family Home
Stage One: Preparation and Planning
We began with an on-site visit to assess the property and meet the daughter to agree priorities. We reviewed the snagging list, created a full inventory and sourced any additional pieces needed to complete each room.
Immediate actions included appointing pest control to resolve a mice issue and engaging a tree surgeon to open up the magnificent river views. We produced detailed plans for furniture and artwork and sourced finishing touches from John Lewis, Cotswold Company and selected independent suppliers to complement the existing mix of Scottish antiques and contemporary Caribbean pieces.
Stage Two: Delivery and Styling
- Unpacked all boxes and organised every room including the kitchen, orangery, dining room, snug, sitting room, bedrooms, games room and annex
- Styled each space with a focus on comfort, flow and balance
- Hung and positioned artwork and mirrors to create a cohesive visual story throughout
- Blended contemporary island ornaments with antique pieces to create a look that felt personal and timeless
- Dressed each bedroom with fresh linens, cushions and throws, preparing every space for guests
- Oversaw a full post-renovation clean ensuring the house was immaculate and move-in ready
- Set up the annex cottage to provide additional accommodation for extended family
Perthshire
The Outcome
In just a few days the property was transformed from a partially finished renovation into a warm and welcoming Scottish retreat. The family arrived to find a home that felt complete, elegant and deeply personal, ready for their long-awaited stay together.
Every detail, from the artwork placement to the view revealed through the newly opened trees, reflected care and intention. The result was a beautifully balanced home that celebrated both Scottish heritage and the family’s Caribbean roots.
Why it Matters
This project demonstrates the value of experience, instinct and trust. Working entirely through a family representative, we delivered a home that perfectly captured the client’s taste and personality without ever meeting them in person.
It highlights our ability to interpret, anticipate and execute with precision, transforming complex projects into beautifully finished homes that feel instantly lived in and loved.
